What do you believe is the purpose of a college education?

I believe that a college education is not just about the education in a classroom but it is about education in the real world.
College teaches you how to somewhat be on your own and start to be an adult. Also, you're surrounded with many other
types of people that you might have not experience at home. Also, college is a way to become specialized in your subject matter.

What does it mean to be educated?

I think that being educated means that you are knowledgeable about important matters. These are not the subjects that we learn in
school. Education I believe comes from the way you think about the world. It is whether you are open or closed minded. I believe that
there are so many different ways to be educated, but the most important is being educated on what is right and wrong.

What experiences have you had with education that led you to this belief?

I can not assume that this is true for everyone. But from my experience, people don't accept something because they don't understand it.
It is much easier to hate something and ignore something than to actually take the time to know the truth about something. I will use an
extreme example, the Holocaust. People didn't understand others that were different than them. They allowed a few people's hatred
to completely control their thoughts. They didn't take the time to get to know the people they were murdering. Hitler burned books because
he knew that with education comes the ability to think for yourself and make decisions that you believe are right an wrong. I think this is the
most important part of education. Being able to form thoughts of your own and taking action on them it's what life is all about. From my
personal experience, I found that people have made comments about others before they truly got to know them.
